Economic relations between Morocco and Portugal have gained a new momentum in the recent months. The two countries signed three cooperation agreements in the fields of energy, tourism and finance.

08/07/2008 - Morocco's GDP up 7% in 2008 Q1
Morocco's economy achieved a growth rate of 7% during the first three months of 2008 compared to 3% during the same period of last year, says a press release by the High Commissioner for Planning (HCP).

This agreement was finalized during a visit (June 25-26) by Minister of Foreign Trade, Abdellatif Maâzouz to Croatia at the head of a large delegation of Moroccan officials and businessmen.

27/06/2008 - Morocco exported -2,5% citrus last season
Export of Moroccan citrus decreased by 2,5% last season. 570,000 tons were exported against 584,000 tons last year. The small citrus decreased from 316,000 tons to 272,000 tons, being a decrease of 14%. The Clementine and the Nour, both being regarded as small citrus, decreased from 210,000 tons to 182,000 tons (-10%) and from 92,000 tons to 60,000 tons (-35%) respectively.

26/06/2008 - Unemployment rates fall in Morocco
Morocco's urban unemployment has decreased 6.6% over the last nine years, while unemployment in rural areas fell from 5.4% to 3.8% over the same period, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Jamal Rhmani said during a press briefing on Monday (June 23rd). In 2006, he added, some 300,000 jobs were created, double the annual average.
